libieee1284-3-dev software package provides cross-platform library for parallel port access [development files], you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libieee1284-3-dev
libieee1284-3-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libieee1284-3-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libieee1284-3-dev *
